Ronnarong (Ong) Khampha is a dancer/choreographer from Northern Thailand. Captivated by Lanna dance when he was young, he later graduated with an honors degree in Thai arts from Chiang Mai University in 2005.

 

Although his background is traditional, Khampha's focus is on contemporary performance. He has developed his own style using old-style dance as the base, venturing into new aesthetics. Khampha studied Javanese and Balinese dance in Solo (Surakarta), Indonesia for two years (2006-08), and Japanese Noh Drama for six months in Kyoto (2010).

In 2010~2011 Khampha received a one year grant from Nippon Foundation’s API (Asian Public Intellectuals) Fellowship, to do dance research in Japan and Indonesia. And 2013 He participated in the International Choreographers Residency at American Dance Festival in Durham NC during a four-month fellowship from ACC (Asian Cultural Council).

 

Khampha has performed solo and collaborated with artists from Thailand, America, Japan, Korea, Australia and Indonesia, in dance festivals in Europe, North America, Australia and Asia.

รณรงค์ จบสาขาศิลปะไทย เกียรตินิยมอันดับสอง จากคณะวิจิตรศิลป์ มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ในปี พ.ศ. 2547 และ 2 ปี (พ.ศ.2549-2551) กับการเรียนรำชวาแบบดั้งเดิมจากสถาบันการแสดง เมืองสุราการ์ตา ประเทศอินโดนีเซีย รวมถึงการฝึกการแสดง โน ณ เมืองเกียวโต ประเทศญี่ปุ่น (พ.ศ. 2554)

ในปี พ.ศ. 2554-2555 ได้รับทุนในโครงการ API Fellowships ทำงานวิจัยเชิงปฏิบัติเกี่ยวกับการเต้น ณ เมืองเกียวโต ประเทศญี่ปุ่นและประเทศอินโดนีเชีย ในปี พ.ศ. 2556 ได้ทุนจาก Asian Cultural Council เพื่อเข้าร่วมโครงการ International Choreographers Residency ในเทศกาลการเต้น American Dance Festival 2013 ณ ประเทศอเมริกา  

 

รณรงค์ มีโอกาสร่วมแสดงผลงานเดี่ยว และร่วมงานกับศิลปินต่างชาติ ในงานเทศการการเต้น ณ ประเทศต่างๆ ทั้งในยุโรป อเมริกาเหนือ ออสเตเลีย ร่วมถึงเอเชีย
